Conoco Philips Wood River Refinery, OSBL Module Assembly

The Wood River Refinery is located at Roxana, Illinois and is completing a $3 billion expansion to increase capacity from 306,000 BPD to 356,000 BPD by 2011, making it the sixth largest domestic refinery.

Bay Ltd. completed the fabrication and assembly of 101 pipe rack modules, with installed pipe, to support this expansion at our two Louisiana facilities.  67 were completed at Amelia, Morgan City and 34 at Belle Chase, New Orleans for a total of 4,080 Tons.  Dimensional control by total station was used to ensure construction tolerances were met and when all units were installed there were no miss-fits or errors to be rectified.  Work started in October 2008, the first shipment was made in March 2009 and the final shipment completed in November 2009 utilizing barge for the large units and truck for the small ones.  A total of 274,000 hours of direct labor were expended.

INEOS Nitriles Facility

The INEOS Nitriles facility located at Green Lake, Port Lavaca, Texas, produces acrylonitrile and acetonitrile, chemicals used in the production of acrylic and carbon fibers and the pharmaceutical industries.

Bay Ltd. completed the fabrication and erection of the 4th Reactor Train utilizing major equipment that was dismantled and transported from the Sterling Chemicals plant in Texas City by INEOS.  The Bay work scope included refurbishment of some of the used equipment with specialty items such as heat exchangers and compressors being sent out to vendors as well as fitness for service inspection of used large bore process pipe and structural steel.  Also included were the civil works, structural steel erection, piping fabrication and erection, electrical and instrumentation and painting and scaffold services.  The initial site preparation started in October 2007 following initial constructability support at the Design Engineers office and was completed in 2009 July and a total of 885,000 hours of direct labor were expended.
