  POSITION: Pipe Fitter LOCATION: Corpus Christi Bay Ltd is looking for experienced Pipe Fitters to work at a local refinery adding new construction. The job requires 2 plus yrs’ experience as a pipefitter, pass an inhouse written craft test or be NCCER certified, regular drug screen and safety orientations. Work schedule is 13/10’s for approximately 6-8 months. Excellent pay, benefits, and job longivity. Essential Job Functions: Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubrications, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems applying knowledge of system operation and following blueprints. Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Responsibilities of a Pipe Fitter include complying with all Bay Ltd. safety procedures. 2. He actively participates in daily safety meeting, JSEA’s and audits. 3. He must cooperate with superintendents, foreman, supervisors in the shop, and quality control departments whose work affects that of this department. 4. He maintains the work area in a neat and orderly condition and cooperates with other departments in housekeeping endeavors. 5. He is also responsible for relaying appropriate information to foreman. 6. Read and work from blueprints and sketches. 7. Select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders according to specifications. 8. Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe cutting machines. 9. Bends pipe using pipe bending tools and machinery. 10. Assembles and installs a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings. 11. Secures pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools. 12. Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment such as pumps and cylinders. 13. Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic controls, and piping. 14. May weld pipe supports to structural steel members. Physical Demands: May include extreme hot or cold weather conditions. Requires climbing about machinery, climbing ladders, catwalks and scaffolding. May require working inside vessels in cramped and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to wear respiratory equipment when required.
